There are a lot of painting jobs in your home that you may find challenging. If you ask just about anyone in the home interior or construction business, they would tell you that painting tile is hard, and they do not recommend that you do it. However, that would be a personal choice, and there are some things you can do if you feel that you have to do it. It greatly depends on the type of tile with which you are dealing, and how much work you want to put into your project. If you just want to roll the paint onto the tiles and call it a day, you are going to be disappointed with the results. Tile painting is much more work intensive than that.
When choosing your paint, you must get a very good primer also. Don’t skip that when painting tile because this helps the paint adhere to the tile. You can even ask what type of primer would work best for this purpose. You also have to consider the type of tile. If you are painting ceiling tile, you should have a primer that will soak in some so that your paint will go on smoothly rather than sinking in. That is the easiest tile painting you can do. As long as you use primer, you should have a great looking result when you are done.
If you are dealing with painting tile that is ceramic or any other hard material, you are going to have more of a problem. One of the best tips is to sand the surface if that is at all possible. That will help the primer stick to the tile better, and then the paint can go on over that. What you should know when you are tile painting is that no matter how well you do, you do run the risk of the paint peeling up from the tile in a relatively short amount of time. You may have better luck with stone tile, but think hard about what you are doing to get the best looking and longest lasting finish you can get when painting tile.
