It just waits for you to download it, or send it over e-mail.
More importantly, however, online birthday cards tend to be free and extremely convenient. Because you can send them over e-mail, you don't have to bother with the hassle of mailing them to a friend. You can get online birthday cards at the very last minute, and no one will be the wiser. On top of this, you can customize them. You can even make your own online birthday cards if you want to. Almost everyone has Photoshop, or something similar nowadays. All you have to do is import a picture, write some text, make any changes that you want, and there you have it. The perfect online birthday card!
Some people take it a little bit too far and get an online birthday gift for friends. I have always thought this was a little tacky. You should take the time to give birthday gifts yourself. An online birthday card can suffice in the meantime, but eventually you should give birthday gifts in person if possible. Nonetheless, online birthday cards will show you care even if you don't have the time to show up personally. You would be amazed how much of a difference they can make. Best of all, your friends can even get them at work. You can't beat that!
