You've probably heard the word "midget" a number of times in your life. You may even connect it with something funny or entertaining. Perhaps it's a circus performer or Mini-me on "Austin Powers." Regardless, I doubt you truly ponder the condition and drawbacks that little people face day-in and day-out. "Midget" by the way, is an insulting term to many. Now, don't get me wrong! I'm not bashing or scolding you in any way. But, I am wondering what your take is on this genetic issue. After all, that is what it comes down to. It's all about genetics. Some of us are fortunate, and some of us are not so fortunate. It's a shame we don't get to choose ourselves.
If you haven't already caught this one, there's a new reality show revolving around the lives of little people. Actually it's about an entire family. The parents are dwarfs and so are a couple of the children. Then there are a couple children who are completely normal in a physical sense. At first I thought this was another lame reality show, but then I watched an episode. It's pretty interesting I must admit. Never before have I given much thought to little people and what they go through on a day to day basis. It's tough and challenging to say the least. We all forget that the world is designed for us, because we can. There is never a constant reminder. Well, it's just the opposite for little people with dwarfism. The next time you feel like your life is a struggle or challenge, ponder what some people go through EVERY DAY.
